Deyes Students Wow in Beauty and the Beast
In April, students at Deyes High School entertained audiences with their spectacular production of Disney’s Beauty and the Beast: The Musical. Students and staff started rehearsals in September 2024 and have spent the past few months working on all aspects of the show. From enchanting vocals to dazzling choreography, the show was a true celebration of student talent and dedication.

Mia Waters from Year 9, who played Belle, said: “At first, I didn’t believe in myself enough to even try for this role, but with encouragement, I took the leap. Belle’s kindness, strength, and emotional depth make her such a beautiful character to portray.”
Zac Tanner from Year 10, who played Beast, added: “It’s a chance to focus more on emotion rather than comedy. Rehearsals are coming together quickly. Everyone’s working hard to make this show amazing!”

The production was guided by Executive and Musical Director Mrs. Byrne, who stated: “Each cast member has grown so much in confidence and skill. The energy and passion in every rehearsal have been incredible to witness. It’s more than just a show—it’s a shared achievement that everyone should be proud of.”
Backed by an outstanding creative team, from vocal and choreography directors to student-led backstage and tech crews, the production brought Broadway brilliance to the school stage. Audiences were treated to iconic numbers like “Be Our Guest” and “Beauty and the Beast,” and left the theatre singing the praises of the cast and crew.

Headteacher Mrs. Beaney added: “This production has been an outstanding showcase of what our students can achieve when they are supported to follow their passions. It’s been inspiring to see such dedication, talent, and teamwork come to life on stage.”
