Vision

Our Business Studies department aims to inspire and empower students to become innovative, resourceful, and adaptable business leaders of the future. Through engaging, hands-on learning experiences in, we provide students with a solid foundation in the practical application of business principles. Students explore a wide range of business areas including Finance, Human Resources, Marketing, and Customer Communications, gaining a holistic understanding of how businesses operate and thrive in an ever changing dynamic environment. We foster critical thinking, entrepreneurial skills, and a deep understanding of the business world, preparing students for both further education and successful careers in a rapidly evolving global economy. Students are supported by a team of experienced and supportive expert teachers, dedicated to creating a dynamic learning environment where learners can develop their potential, build essential skills, and make informed career choices within the world of business.

C​urriculum Intent

Our intent is to equip students with the knowledge, skills, and understanding they need to thrive in the modern business world and succeed in a wide range of career pathways. Through high-quality, engaging, and challenging teaching, we foster a love of learning in Business Studies. We provide a supportive and reflective learning environment where students are encouraged to progress, take risks, and grow in confidence as they explore real-world business concepts. At Key Stage 4, students study the OCR Cambridge National in Enterprise and Marketing. This course offers a practical introduction to business by allowing students to explore a range of business ideas, develop their own business proposal, and design and deliver a professional pitch. Throughout the course, students build essential entrepreneurial skills such as innovation, financial planning, marketing strategy, communication, and presentation. These experiences help them to understand the challenges of running a business and the qualities needed to succeed in enterprise. At Key Stage 5, students progress to the Cambridge Technical in Business, where they deepen their understanding of core business functions. They study a range of specialisms including Human Resources, Accountancy, and Customer Communications, while also exploring how internal and external factors influence business performance and decision-making. The course promotes higher level skills such as analysis, evaluation, and the ability to make reasoned, evidence based recommendations. Students leave the course with a strong set of transferable skills including teamwork, critical thinking, and problem-solving which are highly valued by employers, apprenticeship providers, and universities. Our curriculum is designed not only to prepare students for academic success, but also to support their personal and professional development, ensuring they are confident, adaptable, and ready to make a meaningful impact in the workplace and wider society.
