No To Negativity

At Deyes High School, one of our core values is Respect for Others. We expect all students to demonstrate this by valuing individuals for their diverse backgrounds, experiences, styles, approaches, ideas, and beliefs. Anyone who fails to uphold this core value undermines the safe, secure learning environment we are committed to creating.

In line with this commitment, we have partnered with the Anti-Bullying Alliance to review and update our Anti-Bullying Policy. This collaboration has shaped the launch of our proactive No to Negativity campaign.

Our No to Negativity campaign is driven by data and insight, using our behaviour monitoring system to identify and address patterns of negative behaviour swiftly. This system empowers our pastoral team to intervene early and take decisive action, with clear evidence of emerging issues.

Importantly, students told us they wanted staff to tackle bullying head-on—without always relying on students to speak out first. They also asked for more education on bullying to promote positive, inclusive behaviour across the school. We listened. Now, staff log all negative interactions on School Synergy. When a student is involved in three or more such interactions, it’s formally treated as bullying. Our pastoral team will then step in and implement appropriate disciplinary measures.
