Student and Parent Voice

Student Voice

Student leadership is embedded in the culture of Deyes High School. Through an active School Council and a wide range of leadership roles, pupils influence decisions, contribute to improvement priorities and help shape the daily experience of school life.

Recent student-led initiatives include organising a canal clean-up in partnership with local organisations, influencing changes to school facilities and policies through the student leadership council, leading key elements of major productions like Beauty and the Beast, and shaping celebrations of achievement featured in our newsletters.

Leadership and Influence – What our students say:

Ryan, Year 7
“Lessons are engaging and we’re trusted to learn independently. I’ve made great friends and love PE and History.”

Tom, Year 7
“Being with friends every day makes school enjoyable. PE is a highlight, especially trying new sports like handball.”

Niamh, Year 9
“Clubs are a brilliant way to meet people. History stands out, especially opportunities like visiting European battlefields.”

Molly, Year 8
“Social spaces and lunchtime clubs make a real difference. Teachers are supportive in and out of lessons. Drama and Music are creative and varied.”

Ben, Year 10

Parent Voice

Strong partnerships with families underpin high standards and sustained outcomes. Clear communication, academic ambition and a robust pastoral framework build the trust families place in us.
