Governance

Academy Governance Committee

Governors have a vital part to play in raising the standards in our schools through their work in three key areas;

  • Setting strategic direction.
  • Ensuring accountability.
  • Monitoring & evaluating school performance.

Each of our academies has an Academy Governance Committee (AGC) made up of Governors who are parents of school age children (often who also attend the school), members of the community co-opted by the AGC or LLT Board and school staff, including the Headteacher.

Dedicated to school development and improvement, the AGC works in partnership with the school management team and makes important decisions with regard to the running of the school. This is in relation to curriculum provision, pupil targets, school development plans, budget management, staffing, health & safety and management of the premises.

Most importantly, they act as a source of external challenge - operating as a critical friend.

The Lydiate Learning Trust Board oversees the work of the Academy Governance Committees.
